This coming Saturday evening, June 15, from 6-10 pm, Surfindian will host the opening reception for our new art show featuring the coast and ocean-inspired photography of Southern California artists Laura Cunningham and Ana Phelps. We are really stoked to be able to showcase these two great artists, and both Laura and Ana will be in attendance to discuss and sign their art. Light refreshments will be served, featuring an in-gallery tea bar serving both hot and chilled Guayaki yerba mate tea.
Finding inspiration from her coastal town of Encinitas and the Lux Art Institute, Laura Cunningham layers beach images, inspired wording and custom frames to create unique art statements. Many of Laura’s larger pieces feature multiple images that are sewn together with brightly colored thread, and then mounted in custom frames featuring parts of cigar boxes, rulers and other unique items.
From Oceanside, Ana Phelps utilizes highly-stylized images of waves, palm trees and other coastal images to create unique art pieces. Many of Ana’s works are mounted on wood using clear resin to create a high gloss, durable finish.
Both Laura and Ana offer a broad range of works that can fit diverse client needs. Whether you need a large piece for your living room or office, or a smaller piece for that special intimate space, you will be sure to find something that meets your needs at this show.
