Coronado is a typical beach break that can get fast and hollow with a south or southwest swell and the right combination of wind and tide. The southern area is consistently crowded with tourists visiting the world famous Hotel Del Coronado, and further north the very wide beach becomes a dog friendly area that can get quite crowded on nicer weekends.
When the waves are good they are fast and hollow, typically in early mornings before the inevitable blown out conditions arrive, except during a rare offshore Santa Ana event. It's a beautiful place that can be a good call for some early morning uncrowded tube rides.
